YO (NO) PEDÍ SER PRINCESA

Yo (no) pedí ser princesa

2019

I (did not) ask to be a princess

2019

Not likely you, nor she, nor perhaps any of the victims of gender violence who have died since the beginning of this year and who are joining in 2018 and many more years of previous years.

Gone are the times in which the woman dreamed of being the princess of their home, although many probably never thought about it or pretended to have a blue prince next to them. But, surely, they also did not imagine that a slight or unconscious deviation from the norm would produce a tear in the seams of their reality, to the point of being immersed in that alarming chain of daily abuses and violations that are repeated in different historical and cultural contexts. and that, on occasion, they end with the loss of one's life.

The series "I (did not) asked to be a princess" is a wake-up call that reflects those silences of women charged with warning of danger that, metaphorically, transmute into images of fire, light or abyss, while she, submissive, lowers her eyes to the ground or he protects himself from the threat by turning his back on them and raising his arms to heaven. Moments all in which reality and imagination are confused, while the incomplete staircase becomes the symbol of an exit to which it can not access.
